HARDCOVER - A Short Walk in the Land of The Giants - The Everest Three-Pass Trek

Starting with some insight of reaching Kathmandu via Guangzhou, China, and a few days of preparation, including what to bring when leaving home, trekking permits and TIMS cards, etc, this story follows our group of five, as we depart from Tribhuven International Airport on Tara Air, landing in Lukla on October 4^th, and immediately hitting the trail, passing Phakding on Day One and making the push to Namche Bazaar in one day. Being a self-guided group, we found that securing accommodations along the complete trek to be a complete success! However, I would caution that this could have been due to the fact that we started early in the trekking season, and taking care not to leave the securing of accommodations until too late in the day. As the unsettled post-monsoon weather finally left us in the first week, we ascended the first of the passes, Kongma La, after acclimatizing for a day, reaching the top of Chukkung Ri (we had earlier journeyed up to Khumjung from Namche for the same reason). Our destination for the end of this day was Lobuche – this completed the eastern arm (trekking through the villages of Tengboche, Pangboche and Dingboche) and put us on the main Everest Base Camp trail...
